Welcome to the Kenwood English IV Poetry Blog!

Students from Kenwood's Honors English IV classes have written poems inspired by the poems, poets and poetic forms that they've studied during this term's poetry unit. Some students wrote Ballads and Sonnets while others responded to the work of poets like e.e. cummings, Sylvia Plath and Rainer Marie Rilke. Many poems are profound, heartfelt and deeply insightful. Others are fun and lighthearted. But, all of the poems illustrate the students understanding and appreciation of the genre of poetry. We invite you to read this work and offer your comments. Thank you.

Reporter from Alabama

A little one has died in accident today,
and everyone sad and left to say,
he was so young and special,
he was something to treasure,

whats going to happen next,
from what she saw her son is dead,
a shoe, explosion, maybe he is still alive,
got away, ran for shelter with someone near by,

or maybe he never went to church,
maybe he took a trip to a friend house,
what happen before he left you,
did he say goodbye and kiss you,

did you show closure,
or lost composure,
you done all you could do,
we will help you get through,

do you think you will see him again,
in these streets of Birmingham.
