Welcome to the Kenwood English IV Poetry Blog!

Students from Kenwood's Honors English IV classes have written poems inspired by the poems, poets and poetic forms that they've studied during this term's poetry unit. Some students wrote Ballads and Sonnets while others responded to the work of poets like e.e. cummings, Sylvia Plath and Rainer Marie Rilke. Many poems are profound, heartfelt and deeply insightful. Others are fun and lighthearted. But, all of the poems illustrate the students understanding and appreciation of the genre of poetry. We invite you to read this work and offer your comments. Thank you.

TEAM WORK

They have been with you since you started,
Even when there were ups and down
They always stayed till you departed
Never gave them a chance to take a ground

You are the beast who is always talking
Failing to bring shine them out
Yet you complain of them ball hawking
Silence screamed hoping without a doubt

They may or may not be up to your perfection
It’s just all about giving them a chance to score
Because they might not show up in the sports section
The feeling is worse if you did ignore

It doesn’t matter if you win or lose
Just give your team mates some options to choose.

  1. I like how unique the poem is, and you can see there was effort into the poem and i like the meaning of the poem.
